Dylan Voller’s lawyer says he’s concerned for his safety after release of damning footage
The lawyer for one of the teenagers seen brutalised in damning footage taken from a Northern Territory detention centre says he should be released straight away.
The footage obtained by Four Corners shows Dylan Voller, then 13, being thrown across his cell, repeatedly stripped naked and strapped in a chair with mechanical restraints and a hood over his face.
Lawyer Peter O’Brien says his client is ‘no hero’ but he is a victim of terrible, unlawful abuse by Corrections Officers.
‘He’s now in isolation because he’s fearful of his life,’ he said.
Mr O’Brien said the teen, now 18, had a number of mental health issues, and had came from an incredibly disadvantaged background.
He said he is eligible for parole and he’s worried his client is an easy target for other prisoners.
