Attorney-General denies government is inactive on youth crime
The Attorney-General has denied the government is inactive on youth crime.
Tom Elliott questioned the Premier’s priorities after he wrote to Malcolm Turnbull about the gay marriage plebiscite.
But Martin Pakula said Daniel Andrews is giving the issue his full attention.
‘The public order task force is chaired by the Premier,’ Mr Pakula said.
‘We’ll be introducing new offences to make sure that Victoria Police and the courts have got the weaponry they need to deal with the most serious young offenders.’
Mr Pakula said the suggestion that the government is focusing on marriage equality at the expense of other issues is ‘frankly ridiculous’.
‘We can walk and chew gum at the same time.’
