Supermarket bashing: Woolworths worker attacked with a metal pole
A Woolworths employee has been attacked with a metal pole in Hampton Park after refusing to hand over his wallet and phone.
The Rumour File heard a supermarket worker was bashed by three to four men outside the supermarket, and left with a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain.
Police have confirmed the victim, 22, was confronted by a group outside a Hallam Road supermarket early Friday morning.
Woolworths says the victim was returning from a break when the attack occurred.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl in relation to the incident.
The male has been remanded in custody, charged with armed robbery, assault and car theft, while the female has been charged with car theft and is on bail.
Police are searching for two other youths who are believed to have been involved in the attack.
One of the offenders is described as a 19-year-old, wearing a hoodie and tracksuit pants and perceived to be Caucasian.
A Woolworths spokesperson condemned the attackers in a statement.
“There is no place for violent behaviour in our community and our thoughts are with the team member and his family as he recovers,” the statement read.
“We’ve been offering our full support to the team member since the incident and will continue to do so in the months ahead.”
