The Prime Minister is calling for a new culture of respect for older Australians in the wake of the Royal Commission.
More funding for in-home aged care places and curbing the use of chemical restraints are among the recommendations in the commission’s interim report.
Scott Morrison will make a decision on the recommendations by the end of the year, but has told Neil Mitchell, things needs to change.
“We know there’s a lot more work to do, and we need a new culture of respect for older Australians,” he said.
The PM insists there will be action.
“We’ve got to acknowledge the problem, and acknowledge there’s work to do.”
Maintains we can achieve surplus budget while properly investing in issues like mental health and aged care.
