Taxi industry rules out Grand Final strike
Angry taxi operators are rallying outside the Premier’s office today, but a strike isn’t on the cards.
Pressure is growing for the Government to increase compensation to taxi licence holders from its initial $450m package deal.
They’re promising action over a proposed industry shake-up after the Government’s legalisation of Uber.
There are even rumblings of cabs being pulled out of service on grand final eve.
But Victorian Taxi and Hire Car Families president Sandy Spanos told Neil Mitchell that won’t happen.
‘We will rally, but we’re certainly not going to inconvenience the public,’ Ms Spanos said.
