Incredible footage: Victims of alleged home invasion fight back
Footage has emerged of alleged aggravated burglary victims fighting back in Melbourne’s north-west.
The CCTV footage from outside the home shows two residents chasing two alleged home invaders from their house as they tried to steal their car.
The men use what appears to be a sledgehammer to fend of the two alleged culprits, before another car arrives and the would-be thieves flee.
It’s believed police have charged three teens in relation to the alleged theft attempt.
The CCTV footage has been uploaded to social media where it has been viewed more than half a million times.
A neighbour, Larissa*, was woken up by the sound of the violent saga.
“I saw a the guy running down the street in his underwear … I saw a car trying to gun him down,” she told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell.
“They were doing burnouts trying to repeatedly go after him and hit him with the car.
“Eventually, yes, they did connect with him and they did hit him. Thankfully he wasn’t majorly injured!”
Larissa said she feared for the safety of her neighbours.
“These guys are young, they really are young,” she said.
“I was terrified for them.
“They were just trying to defend themselves.”
Larissa said she’s never seen anything like this happen in her area.
“Most people in this neighbourhood have lived here for 25 years. No one has ever seen anything like this ever happen,” she said.
