Glen Eira Bayside Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following the theft of a guide dog charity box in Hampton on September 19.

Two men gained entry to an undercover carpark at a supermarket on Hampton Street about 3.50am by smashing glass sliding doors.

The men have then gained entry to the supermarket where they stole the dog shaped charity box which was attached to a wooden bench seat.

They dragged it down the escalator and through the glass door they had earlier smashed before leaving the area.

The first man is perceived to be Caucasian, 175cm tall and was wearing a light-coloured hooded top with dark sleeves and ’86’ on the front, black pants, black runners and was carrying an orange blow torch.

The second man is perceived to be Caucasian, 180cm tall and was wearing a light coloured top, black beanie, black pants and runners with a black t-shirt tied around his face and was carrying a hammer.

Investigators have released images and CCTV in the hope that someone may recognise the men.
