Infrastructure Victoria proposal to merge police stations slammed by government and police

A proposal by Infrastructure Victoria to merge police stations to create so called justice super sites has been slammed by both sides of government and police.

The billion-dollar, five year proposal to create as many as 24 justice super sites forms part of Infrastructure Victoria’s 30 year blueprint released today.

Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles, Secretary of the Police Association says now isn’t the time to close police stations given the rising crime rate.

He’s made his views known to police command, the opposition and the government.

‘Their view is they’re not in favour of super sites. They’ve given a commitment that no police station will close, I think that’s good for the community, but also good for the members.’ ? Ron Iddles told 3AW News.
