2016 Brownlow Medallist Patrick Dangerfield will be attending the Grand Final.

The star Cat is a regular attendee at the MCG on the final day of the season, but not in the way that he’d prefer.

He told Neil Mitchell he does feel a twinge of envy watching opposition clubs battle it out for the cup.

‘I certainly look on with envied eyes over the team that triumphs,’ he said.

‘It’s a day of mixed emotions, but I’m very happy for the players that do win.’

Dangerfield won the medal with 35 votes in his first season at Geelong since crossing from Adelaide.

He said returning home has only increased his love for the game.

Dangerfield also said the moving tribute to Paul Couch, the 1989 Brownlow winner who passed away during the season, drove home the message of what the honour means to the AFL world.
