Police shoot man near Stud Road, Dandenong
A man remains in hospital after emergency surgery and an internal investigation has been launched, after a police shooting at Dandenong.
Police shot the armed man twice in the torso after he ran from officers who pulled over a car on Stud Road.
The 26-year-old, who is known to police, tried to carjack a BMW while trying to flee.
Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill says officers fired fearing for their safety.
‘He’s continued to run along Stud Road, at that point of time he produced a weapon at police, police instructed the individual to drop the weapon, at that point of time police have discharged their weapons.’ he tells 3AW News.
