RUMOUR CONFIRMED: The driver of a van was followed and confronted by police, over an error related to number plates.

Police say they followed a van from Berwick to Rowville along the Monash Freeway at about 9.30pm on Monday night.

It’s believed the van was fitted with plates that had previously been reported as stolen, but had not been cleared after being recovered.

When the driver stopped at a service station, police stopped and spoke to the occupants of the van.

They were not arrested and were cleared of any wrong doing. No pursuit was initiated.
