Neil Mitchell has rubbished the need for a new language guide which has been launched to target common expressions which are claimed to lead to domestic violence.

Sayings like ‘boys will be boys’ and ‘she’s a little princess’ have come under scrutiny, with concerns they send the wrong message and excuse poor behaviour.

The Excuse Interpreter is born out of the Australian government’s ‘Stop It At The Start’ campaign.

Neil Mitchell said it insinuated men were thugs. 

’99 per cent of men are not thugs towards women or anybody else but the impression is we are,’ the 3AW Mornings host said.

‘It’s starting to irritate me a bit.’
