The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is bringing with it cuisines from around the world. 

Known as the ‘Godfather of Italian Cuisine’ is Antonio Carluccio, who will be hosting the World’s Longest Lunch.

A decadent Italian feast inspired by Carluccio’s new cookbook, Vegetables, will be served at the record 600-metre-long table on Carlton’s Lygon Street.

Carluccio told Ross and John people try too hard to change the recipes for traditional Italian cuisines. 

‘The Italian cuisine has been taken over by people who can’t cook it,’ he said.

‘The famous dispute in England is with carbonara and the bolognese sauce.’

Based in London, Carluccio has close to 100 restaurants around the world and 25 cook books.

Despite all the cuisines he can serve up, the last meal he would want is ‘very simple.’

‘A plate of spaghetti, good fresh tomatoes, basil and garlic.’
