Fiona Patten: Continuing to refuse to allow pill testing at festivals is “immoral”
Leader of the Reason Party Fiona Patten says continuing to say ‘no’ to pill testing is “immoral”.
It comes after Falls Festival revellers received an urgent text message following a death at a music festival in New South Wales.
“To hear the NSW Premier say that she was devastated that another young person has died in NSW, it’s the third death in as many months,” Patten told Heidi Murphy on 3AW Mornings.
“Testing could have saved those lives, she has blood on her hands and to continue to say no (to pill-testing) is immoral.
“Just say no, is possibly the safest message but it’s not being adhered to.
“Pill testing is one tool in keeping kids safe.”

Secretary of the Police Association Wayne Gatt said pill testing can allow for a false sense of security in young people
“There’s as many pros as there are cons when it comes to pill testing,” Sgt Gatt said.
“There are still concerns about accuracy.
“It by no means makes the situation safe for young people.
“That’s not to say it shouldn’t be looked at.”
