Shoppers flock in record Christmas rush for Chadstone
More than two packed MCGs worth of shoppers have flooded Chadstone in a record-breaking rush before Christmas.
About 250,000 people, a new record, will have entered the shopping centre when the 36-hour shopping period ends at 6pm Monday.
“More than 136,000 were here (Sunday) and certainly looking at the crowds we’re well and truly beating the same day last year as well,” centre manager Michael Whitehead told 3AW Mornings.
“Interestingly we’re seeing a lot of men in the malls at the moment.
“Maybe it reflects how men shop, right to the last minute.”
Another 200,000 people are expected to flock to the shopping centre on Boxing Day.
