Defected MP Catherine Cumming speaks out about quitting on Hinch
Former Justice Party MP Catherine Cumming has spoken out about why she has defected from the party that earned her a seat in Parliament, less than a month after she was elected.
A furious Ms Cumming (pictured above reacting to her election) listed several reasons as to why she quit on Derryn Hinch, some of which appeared to contradict each other.
- She denied she had spat the dummy at not being elected leader, but admitted she would have stayed if she was elected leader
- Ms Cumming insisted she was elected in her own right, but later said one of the reasons she had “not felt supported” by the Justice Party was that she only had posters of her alongside Derryn Hinch because she fought for them
The former Maribyrnong mayor also claimed that preferences were stacked against her in order to help the Shooters, Farmers and Fishers party.
