A man is fighting for life in hospital after an alleged assault at Frankston.

Police were called to the Nepean Highway shortly before 3am on Friday following reports of an assault.

A man was found with life-threatening upper body injuries.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.

Police are yet to say if any weapons were used in the alleged assault.

No arrests have been made.
