Swapping your soy sauce could halve your daily salt intake, a new report has found.
VicHealth dietitian Jen Reimer told Ross and John a tablespoon of the average soy sauce contains 61 per cent of our recommended daily salt intake.
“We just want people to be aware just how loaded with salt it is,” Jen said.
“You can switch and get half the amount of salt and still get that tasty flavour.
“One in three Australians have high blood pressure, and it’s kind of driving those rates of heart disease and stroke, these are big killers.
“Get back to using natural flavours, herbs, spices, lemon, garlic, ginger, these are wonderful flavours!”
