Greg Swann slams Gabba curator after ground left unusable for AFL Women’s final
There are calls for the Gabba’s curator to be forced into an early retirement after the inaugural AFL Women’s grand final was unable to played there.
Brisbane’s first home match of the year, against Essendon in Round 2, is also in doubt because of the state of the surface.
A seething AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said it was either a matter of ‘competence or prioritisation’ that the surface wasn’t ready.
The Gabba’s head curator Kevin Mitchell says his ground is unavailable due to re-sowing following the recent Adele concerts.
Gerard Healy says he should be sacked.
Lions CEO Greg Swann told 3AW the situation was ‘farcical.’
‘He thinks this is a cricket ground and treats it (AFL) like a necessary evil,’ Swann said on Sportsday.
