Vincent Stanford sentenced to life behind bars for rape and murder of Stephanie Scott
The man who raped and murdered school teacher Stephanie Scott will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Vincent Stanford’s crime was described as ‘atrocious, detestable and extremely wicked’ by Justice Robert Hume.
The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to raping then murdering Ms Scott at Leeton High School on Easter Sunday in 2015, burning her remains just days before she was due to be married.
Justice Hume said Stanford was clearly a disturbed individual, before sentencing him to life behind bars for murder and 15 years for aggravated sexual assault.
His identical twin brother, Marcus, served 15 months for selling Ms Scott’s rings and burning her driver’s licence.
