YOUR TOWN | 3AW Drive speaks to Carrum locals in the lead-up to the state election
In the lead-up to the November election, 3AW Drive is finding out what matters to you.
This week, Carrum locals have told Tom Elliott what will sway their vote in the marginal seat.
Freddie Mansour, who owns Freddie’s Coffee and has been working in Carrum for 24 years said sitting Labor MP Sonya Kilkenny wasn’t working hard enough to appease their local community.
“She doesn’t seem to want to work with her local community to get things done,” he said.
“To this day, there’s been no interaction with the current MP at all in the Carrum shopping centre to do anything in the last four years of government.”
Local resident Jan Murnane is a recently retired school teacher and told Tom Elliott her key issues in the lead-up to the election were Skyrail, crime and planning.
“We’re part of the ‘no Skyrail’ team,” she said.
“We have an incredible amount of the community behind us, 94.6 per cent of resident oppose Skyrail.
“I’ve lived in the area for over 40 years and I came to live here because it’s a laid-back coastal area – we have a 1200-metre coastline and 900 metres are going to be Skyrail.”
