Acting Assistant Commissioner “always bothered” by distracted pedestrians
Victoria Police Road Policing Command Acting Assistant Commissioner Michael Grainger said he’s “always bothered” seeing pedestrians distracted while crossing roads.
30 pedestrians have been killed on our roads this year, including someone as recently as Sunday morning in Dandenong.
Assistant Commissioner Grainger said there wasn’t a specific age or demographic involved in incidents and emphasised the importance of highlighting an increasing number of pedestrian death on Victorian roads.
“There’s no rhyme or reason to a lot of it,” he told 3AW Breakfast.
“Mostly it’s about inattention by pedestrians and tragic situations that play out.
“We’ve all got a responsibility when we’re out there in public and particularly when we’re using our roads, to look up and look out for each other.”
