It looks increasingly likely the Hazelwood power station will be shut down.

But the government has assured the future of the La Trobe Valley, if that is to happen.

The station provides 25 per cent of Victoria’s power and around 1000 jobs.

But Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy and the Environment, told Tom Elliott residents wouldn’t be hung out to dry.

‘There is no option that is not being considered,’ she told Tom Elliott.

‘I can say that very firmly.’
