AFL boss says Brownlow Medal winner won’t be charging for interviews
AFL boss Gillon McLachlan has shot down any plan Tom Mitchell’s management may have had about charging for interviews, should the Hawthorn star win the Brownlow Medal as expected.
It emerged on 3AW Breakfast on Friday that Mitchell’s management had been asking for $1000, plus GST, for interview on Tuesday morning.
McLachlan told Neil Mitchell that wouldn’t be happening.
“Somebody has made a mistake there – I’m sure,” the league’s chief executive said on 3AW Mornings.
“If you’re a Brownlow Medal winner then you actually do make a lot of money out of it in the long term.
“But in the aftermath and celebrating the next day? I know Tom will be doing a lot of media and he won’t be charging.”
The league’s chief executive doesn’t think Mitchell will win, anyway!
He’s tipping Max Gawn to win the Brownlow and a Richmond-West Coast grand final.
