Anyone who has visited Mt Buller would be familiar with the legend that was Hans Grimus.

Hans was a much-loved figure on the mountain for almost 50 years.

We last saw Hans when we visited for A Moveable Feast last year.

He passed away yesterday, aged 78.

Laurie Blampied, General Manager of Mt Buller told Ross and John he’ll always be fondly remembered.

“He certainly was a larger-than-life character, he was a true pioneer of the Australian ski industry,” Laurie said.

“He had almost 50 years living and working on the mountain.

“It’s a memory that’ll live on for sure.”
