A shot has been fired and a man assaulted in Dandenong.

The offender armed with a gun turned up at a business on Paul Court in Dandenong at about 12.30am.

Police say a dispute ensued, a shot was fired into a wall, before a man was assaulted.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The gunman fled in a vehicle and police are seeking witnesses, but have not yet released a description.
