“100 jobs are about to go”: Sunshine manufacturing business to shut by December
A manufacturer of air conditioners in Melbourne’s west will shut down by the end of the year, leaving as many as 100 people out of work.
Caller John told Tom Elliott the company Buffalo Trident – Bitzer Australia, is planning to close its operations in Sunshine west, but that only management knew of the plans.
“They (the workers) haven’t been told yet,” John said.
“Looks like 100 jobs are about to go.
“The parent company is a German company and I think it’s all heading back overseas.”

John said the company make large air conditioning units for industrial workplaces.
The company issued 3AW Drive with a statement, confirming the news, which reads:
Buffalo Trident’s manufacturing operations at Sunshine Victoria will be shut down by the end of 2018. Güntner and BITZER are convinced that this cooperation will serve the market in a competitive and responsive way.
The company’s website states that the purpose-built facility in Sunshine opened in December 1996, with 10,000m2 of manufacturing under the one roof.
