“Just a matter of when + how”: Time running out for Turnbull as Libs jump ship
The House of Representatives has been adjourned until September 10, in the midst of a Liberal Party leadership crisis.
Key ministers Mathias Cormann, Mitch Fifield and Michaelia Cash have resigned from Malcolm Turnbull’s Cabinet.
The trio informed reporters in Canberra on Thursday morning that the Prime Minister had lost their support.
Minister for Human Services Michael Keenan soon followed, announcing his resignation.
“It’s with great sadness and a heavy heart that we went to see the Prime Minister yesterday afternoon to advise him that in our judgment he no longer enjoyed the support of the majority of members in the Liberal Party party room,” Senator Cormann said.
“And that it was in the best interests of the Liberal Party to help manage an orderly transition to a new leader.”
Fairfax and New Corp newspapers are reporting Treasurer Scott Morrison will run against Peter Dutton in a #libspill vote.

“You’ll have a new Prime Minister very soon,” Neil Mitchell said.
“And it’ll be Peter Dutton.
“If these three add to it, he’s got the numbers.
“I think Malcolm Turnbull is gone.
“It’s now a matter of when and how.”
