New Australian research has revealed one of the earliest human species, Homo erectus, died out because they were lazy.

A team at the Australian National University has found homo erectus used “least effort strategies” when it came to hunting and tool making, and wouldn’t even walk small distances.

Archaeologist Dr Ceri Shipton told Ross and John the species didn’t push themselves.

“They seemed to have been just using very-easy-to-access resources and not adapting to climate change,” he said.

“When it dried up and became a desert they seemed to have disappeared.”
