FIRST ON 3AW: CCTV of violent bashing and car theft in Melbourne’s south-east
A man has been bashed and his car stolen in a violent incident in Melbourne’s south-east.
And 3AW’s report on the matter at 6.30am on Wednesday alerted a local business to what had happened overnight, leading to the discovery of CCTV.
The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was withdrawing money at an ATM on Chesterville Road, Moorabbin about 10.20pm on Tuesday when he was allegedly assaulted by three offenders.
CCTV shows the offenders punching and kicking the victim before driving off in his 2015 Black Land Rover Discovery.
In the footage, one of the men appears to have a handgun but this has not been confirmed by police.
Investigators have been told the offenders also fled with cash and the man’s credit card.
Despite the beating, the man did not require hospital treatment.
“We’re all just really angry about it,” Tim Carey, whose business captured the footage, told Tom Elliott.
“This sort of garbage needs to be taken off the street.”
