Jimmy Bartel wasn’t impressed by Gary Ablett’s game on Friday.
Jimmy said while Ablett’s best seasons are behind him, he’s shown this year he can still be a game-breaker.
Prompted by a caller to Sunday Sport, he said Ablett didn’t have enough impact with his 30 disposals against the Bulldogs.
“No doubt he’s looking after his shoulder,” Jimmy said.
“He can’t (keep being) the type of Gary we saw on Friday night.
“He did just push back to get the little release kick. He didn’t take the game forward.”
Robbo: Is Gary hurting Geelong?
Jimmy: No. No.
Jimmy said Ablett’s game against North Melbourne in Round 12, where he was named best afield on 3AW, was an example of how damaging he can still be.
“Most of his possessions were in the forward half, he was hitting the scoreboard and being that last kick,” he said.
“That’s when he’s a real concern for the opposition.”
