A mess of metal has been strewn across a major the road at Oakleigh after a truck lost its load.

The incident has closed several lanes at the intersection of South Road and Warrigal Rd.

VicRoads spokesperson Chris Miller said nuts, bolts and possibly even ball-bearings are now spread across the bitumen.

“We’re waiting on some brooms to arrive to clean that up,” he told Neil Mitchell.
