The Melbourne Football Club has put the brakes on reports it wants to build its new headquarters at Yarra Park outside the MCG.

The proposal has been met with mixed reaction.

Speaking on 3AW, Demons president Glen Bartlett said it was just one of many ideas being considered.

“There’s a long way to go,” he told Neil Mitchell.

He did, however, stress the club needed to find a base and soon.

“It’s been 160 years,” Bartlett said.

“It has to be addressed.”
