This new study method at Victoria University really makes a lot of sense
“It just makes sense, doesn’t it?”
That’s how the 3AW Breakfast team reacted to Victoria University’s new study method that they say is producing happier and more successful students.
The change?
“You do one subject at a time,” Professor Peter Dawkins, Vice-Chancellor Victoria University, told Ross and John.
Instead of studying up to six subjects at a time, each subject is taught and tested in short, sharp blocks.
“It’s greatly improved student satisfaction, student attention and student learning,” Mr Dawkins said.
“They can focus on one thing at a time.
“They do it in small groups, 30 students, one teacher.
“It’s much richer learning experience and easier to organise.”
The concept is based on a Swedish model.
