Malcolm Turnbull confident he can ‘work effectively’ with Donald Trump
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has admitted there is a level of disillusionment as Australians feel less represented by mainstream politicians.
In the wake of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential race, Mr Turnbull told Neil Mitchell he would not ‘denigrate’ other leaders.
‘I certainly do relate to Australian voters, it is my job to connect with the electorate,’ he said.
‘One of the reasons Donald Trump was elected, was because people looked at him, and said he is a practical businessman who has been successful.’
Neil Mitchell: Are you confident you can work with Donald Trump?
PM: Yes, I am.The conversation I had with him was very warm, very practical.
