‘It solves nothing’: Neil Mitchell slams local council’s ‘absurd’ agenda
A decision by Brimbank Council in Melbourne’s west to install female pedestrian lights has been labelled ‘absurd’ by Neil Mitchell.
Brimbank Councilor Victoria Borg raised a motion to change the symbols at the council’s last meeting.
They say it will promote gender equality in the area.
“Call off the war!” Neil said.
“Forget the gender pay gap, forget the #Metoo campaign, women have won!
“It is absurd.
“Just another sign of council’s fiddling with the social agenda, it solves nothing.”

The Mayor of Brimbank refused to speak to 3AW Mornings, but Dr Prudence Black, an expert in Gender & Cultural Studies at The University of Sydney, said the change reflects a complex society we now live in.
“We’ve got to stop thinking about people in their roles in relation to gender,” she said.
“I think what they should have done with those signs is taken away the idea of gender at all.”
