Drug experts say Australia’s reputation for expensive cocaine could be driving ice use.
New research has revealed the price of cocaine in Australia is more than double the global average, but can be delivered quicker than a pizza.
The Global Drug Survey figures show that the average price per gram is about $311 dollars, second only to New Zealand.
A key reason for the inflated prices is the relative scarcity of the drug.
But Global Drug Survey professor Adam Winstock told Ross and John it’s making more dangerous drugs more desirable.
“I’m certain one of the reasons ice is so dominant … in south-east Asia is that coke is so expensive,” he said.
