A volunteer at an op shop in the south-eastern suburbs has accidentally sold a customer’s road bike for significantly less than its worth.

And what’s worse, it wasn’t even for sale!

During The Rumour File, Ross and John were told a young man went into the op shop and left his bike just inside the front of the store after asking permission from the attendant.

He then spent a few minutes looking at clothes, and when he returned to the front of the store, his bike had been sold.

Joel later confirmed the rumour to 3AW Breakfast.

“There’s no bike racks at the store so they usually just let me leave it inside the door,” he said.

“It is right next to the donation bin.”

“One of the volunteers had sold it for $20,” he said.

“They look me out the back to have a look at prices to try and compensate me and they were all over $1000.”

Joel says his bike is a green and grey Fuji road bike (similar to the one above) and it was sold at the Keysborough Salvation Army Store.
