Mick Warner slams AFL CEO over investigation ‘failings’
Mick Warner has slammed Gillon McLachlan over his handling of off-field investigations.
Mick said McLachlan hasn’t handled controversies under his watch adequately, with the most recent example being the Sam Powell-Pepper indiscretion.
Speaking on 3AW Football, Mick said it always seems like the AFL negotiates the outcome it wants.
“I don’t think we should be surprised by the fallout from that investigation,” Mick said.
“Quite frankly, I cannot remember a single investigation involving the AFL that didn’t have a smell about it.
“I just think we have too many negotiated outcomes.”
Lloydy: So would you say Gillon McLachlan is failing as a CEO?
Mick: Yeah, I would. Not many would agree with me.
Mick called for an independent body to deal with off-field issues involving the league.
