Former umpires boss Wayne Campbell wants to dump the bounce.

Campbell, now GWS’ football manager, told 3AW Football umpires find it too hard both physically and mentally.

“It just doesn’t make any sense to me,” Campbell said.

“Get rid of it (and) move on.”

Campbell said the benefit of keeping the tradition going doesn’t outweigh the cost.

“There’s guys with shoulder reconstructions, there’s guys with back (injuries)… I’m reasonably strong on it.”
