‘Never too early’ for kids to learn a second language
The minister for early childhood education says it’s “never too early” for children to start learning a second language.
3AW Drive listeners were split over the issue on Tuesday.
An idea has been floated for kindergarten kids – aged as young as 3 and 4 – to start learning a language other than English.
Some believe it’s too young, given they’re still learning the basics of English.
However, Jenny Mikakos spoke out in favour of the idea, saying young children had minds like a “sponge”.
“It’s never too early for children to start learning another language,” she said.
