Radical new marijuana plan: Greens leader tries to convince Tony Jones
The Greens are proposing to take cannabis out of the hands of criminal dealers, by making it legal for adults to use.
Under the plan, a new agency would be the sole wholesaler of the drug.
It would distribute cannabis to licensed retailers who are then able to sell to Australians over the age of 18.
Greens leader Richard Di Natale says continuing to criminalise the drug only sends it underground.
“Right now, nearly 7 million Australians have made the decision to use cannabis,” he told 3AW Mornings.
“We don’t have a war on drugs, we have a war on people.”
