Our April sun: Weather to turn after another warm Melbourne start
Our warm April has seen some of the hottest days ever recorded in Victoria for the month.
But it’s about to turn.
It was again an unusually warm night in Melbourne; at 5am it was 30° degrees in Scoresby with northerly winds and cloud keeping temperatures high in Melbourne.
After another warm day — a top of 28° is expected about 1pm — temperatures will dip overnight before a cool-to-mild weekend.

It will remain warm in the state’s north, but some relief ahead with even Mildura — which has had four consecutive days over 35° — expecting to have maximum temperatures in the low 20s for the first time in weeks.
Victorian farmers are getting desperate for autumn rain.
Below average March rain and a dry summer has farmers selling off stock as the cost of feed starts to rise.
Gippsland sheep farmer Steve Harrison told Macquarie National News he’s had to nearly halve his flock, as his dams start to run dry.
Fresh from recording a Victorian April record of 39.3°C yesterday, Mildura is expected to reach 38°C today.
