Five people died on Victorian roads on Wednesday
Five people have died in four separate crashes across the state in a horror day on the state’s roads yesterday.
The five deaths take the state’s road toll to 248, 28 higher than the same time last year.
The CEO of the Transport Accident Commission, Joe Calafiore, says they are ‘heartbroken’ with the results.
‘We know in country Victoria you are four times more likely to suffer a fatality,’ he said.
He said there was a range of factors contributing to the road toll.
‘Get yourself in the safest car you can possibly afford and drive to the appropriate speed limits and conditions.
‘That’s the best way we can protect ourselves and our families.’
