Why Melbourne’s Acting Mayor will not contest the upcoming election
Arron Wood will not contest the upcoming election.
After weeks of deliberation, the Acting Mayor has decided he won’t nominate for the position of Lord Mayor.
Mr Wood told Neil Mitchell he’s happy with the role of Deputy.
“It’s a really important role,” he said.
“It has a lot of work before it and has a lot of say in the future of the city.”
Nominations for the May 11 vote close at midday.
