Government expels two Russians believed to be undeclared spies
Following action by the UK, US and European British allies, the Australian government is expelling two people it believes are undeclared spies.
The officials have seven days to leave Australian soil.
Professor of Human Security and International Diplomacy RMIT, Joseph Siracusa says the move will not be appreciated by the Russian government.
“This is a major event, the Russians will regard this as very provocative and unfriendly,” Professor Siracusa said.
“Putin will say he doesn’t care because he can spy anywhere he wants.
“It does dirty the water in places like the Ukraine and Eastern Europe.”
