A man has been killed in a car crash at Kew East.

Police said they believed a Suzuki SUV was travelling north on Burke Road when the driver appeared to lose control about 3.15pm.

The car crossed to the wrong side of the road, near the Eastern Freeway ramp, side swiping a Mazda and a Toyota ute before flipping on its side.

The driver and single occupant of the Suzuki, a man who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

Nobody else was injured injured.

Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
