This Week in Food: Eats & Beats, Talk & Taste and twilight tunes
THIS WEEK IN FOOD
A PILGRIM-AGE: Pilgrim Bar is bringing back its Talk & Taste programme to Federation Wharf in 2018, with a series of monthly educational sessions, that let you indulge in some great food and drinks, and fulfilling your self-improvement quote at the same time. All kicks off Thursday 22nd Mark when pork producers Pacdon Park tell their story of going from Lancashire backpackers, to quality Victorian producers. The menu boasts pork pie, Scotch egg, Pig in a blanket and more – all matched to great beers. Just $40 per person, more info at pilgrimbar.com.au/event/pacdon-park/
SIDESHOW-STOPPER: We love a suburban showstopper, and Sideshow Burgers have brought their best to Rosanna. After running a pop-up burger night at Lip Cafe in Ivanhoe for three years, Abhish Gupta and Julian Chew reckoned they had something a bit more permanent to offer. Enter: Sideshow. It’s a short but sweet menu of six burgers made with locally sourced ingredients and Brasserie Bakery sourdough buns. Check them out http://sideshowburgers.com.au
BEATS IN THE BURBS: Speaking of the suburbs, further east The Glen Shopping Centre is launching its brand new food gallery with a three-week music event called Eats & Beats. Gallery, you ask? Well, I assume it’s a food court of sorts, with floor to ceiling windows boasting views of the Dandenongs, and grub from the likes of Huxtaburger, Chinta Ria for Hawker-style Malaysian, or Capricho for South American chicken. All happens for three weekends from 28th March at 11am, check out www.theglen.com.au
BUNNY BEATS: Looking for something to do over Easter? How about tunes and wines at the stunning Terindah Estate? There’ll be twilight tunes on Easter Thursday, or lunch melodies Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Music will be live, local and unplugged; you can either book in for a more formal mean of high quality, seasonal produce in the shed, or enjoy a more casual experience on the deck.
