Footage has emerged of a bungling Collins Street bookstore robber who got trapped in sliding doors by his backpack.

The thief, holding a cup of drink, was stuck for a time because he didn’t think to take off his backpack, which is lodged between the giant doors.

The man later smashes a security door and left the store struggling to carry a heavy, small safe.

The theft occurred last Thursday and the robber is still on the run.
