PM’s poll pain: Malcolm Turnbull two steps away from unwanted landmark
Voter support for the Prime Minister has collapsed, as the Federal Government lurches from crisis to crisis.
The Coalition has now trailed Labor for 28 NewsPolls in a row, with Malcolm Turnbull edging closer to the 30 polls he used as a reason for replacing Tony Abbott.
Today’s results published in The Australian show the opposition retains a six-point lead, suggesting the Government would be annihilated if an election was held this weekend.
TWO-PARTY PREFERRED
Labor: 53%
Coalition: 47%
The survey also suggests support has tumbled for Mr Turnbull.
PREFERRED PM
Malcolm Turnbull: 37%
Bill Shorten: 35%
This is a drop of 12 percentage points for Malcolm Turnbull on the previous NewsPoll, at the start of February.
